Hello, friends. We have reached the halfway point where 8/16 players have been introduced. Hopefully, you have enjoyed the unbiased reporting from my end. Stay with me now, because four more player comps are coming your way, and they’re coming hard. Alan LaBov LaBov will make his Buster Bowl debut this year, but despite having no tape available for the captains to review, he is going early in most mock drafts. Based on numerous reports, some of which could be classified as glazing, LaBov is close to being a scratch golf. Again, I am basing this on secondhand information, but this would solidify his position as an early draft pick. Indeed, the Buster Bowl Pipeline (BBP) has Alan at #3, but like any skill evaluation assessment, the BBP can be wrong now and again. Welcome back to another entry to the Buster Bowl Blog. We have got four more players to introduce, so without further ado, let us dive right in. Dustin Debeau Dustin is a locker room guy. Regardless of the odds, he will put his head down and get to work, evidenced by his performance two years ago. Similar to Bush, Dustin is a captain in this year’s Buster Bowl. Had he been draft eligible he likely would be a middle-to-low tier prospect. The golf game is still a work in progress but as White Goodman would say, “[He’s] got a personality.” His personality is the primary reason why ~86% of prospects in this year’s draft class would prefer to be drafted by Dustin instead of Bush in this upcoming (results from anonymous poll).        It is August 18 th and despite a year’s worth of planning, the final pieces of the Buster Bowl are finally falling into place. You would think it would not be so difficult to block off four days in October to golf, gamble, and drink with the boys, but for some, it was just that. Thankfully, with ample encouragement from their friends, Mags and Gabe did the impossible: they talked with their wives and got approval to attend this year’s festivities. It is still unclear what they sacrificed. Did they promise to take care of a few household chores for the next few weeks? Did Gabe promise his wife the money from his soda cans in perpetuity? Did Mags agree to hyphenate his last name? Who knows. All we know is that they ain’t leavin. Now, 15 of the 16 golfers are locked in for three days of golf, with the 16 th (Foster) being questionable for personal reasons.        Let me start by rattling off a few names: Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Paul Atreides, Agamemnon, Augustus. What do these men have in common? They were ruthless conquerors that won by any means necessary. They led from the front and set an example for their followers. Thus, their victories and achievements will echo through eternity. Now, allow me to produce another list of names: Adolf Hitler, LeBron James, Hannibal, people that hate on the Odyssey. What do these people have in common? They are the biggest losers ever. They are the antithesis of success. Their careers are riddled with “What Ifs?”. What if Hitler hadn’t hesitated and instead had stormed the beaches of Dunkirk? What if LeBron knew how to lead?        It is August 4 th , 2026, which means the fifth annual Buster Bowl is just around the corner. What began as an 18-hole scramble between 12 washed up NAIA baseball players has quickly evolved into a 16-man Ryder Cup style event spread out across 4 days. Although it is still in its infancy, the Buster Bowl has already produced a multitude of core memories. No one, not even those who were too inebriated to say the alphabet forwards, will forget Brandon Bush blowing match-deciding putts on back-to-back days. Nor will we forget the time Eric Bradberry got on his hands and knees and begged the wait staff of The Dock at Bay View to serve him his pizza at a discounted rate (be sure to check out Brandon Bush’s one-star review).
